What “retrograde” means

A planet is retrograde when, seen from Earth, it seems to drift backwards through the zodiac for a while. Astrologers read it as a time to review whatever that planet rules. The slow outer planets spend months of every year retrograde, so what matters most is when one turns around right on a point in your own chart.
