Aries Compatibility
Aries (March 21 – April 19) is a Fire Cardinal sign ruled by Mars. Here is how Aries matches with all 12 signs, ranked best to worst.
Look at the Aries grid and the first thing you notice is that it has almost no middle. Aries scores 10s and it scores 2s. Every fire and air partner lands at 7 or above; every earth and water partner lands at 4 or below. Not many signs have a chart this polarized, and it says something about how Aries relates to people. They don't adjust. What they are is what arrives, at full volume, on day one, and the compatibility question is mostly whether the other person's nervous system can take delivery.
There's an upside to that. Nobody has a slow disappointment with an Aries, no discovery in year two that the person they married was a performance being maintained. The cost is that the bad matches go bad fast and stay bad, because the thing causing the trouble isn't a habit that can be dropped. It's how the sign runs, and it runs the same way with everybody.

Aries's Best Matches
Sagittarius is the easiest relationship an Aries will ever be in, and it scores like it: a 10 overall, 10 for trust, 10 for passion. Same element, same appetite for leaving on Friday with nothing booked, same conviction that a plan made an hour ago is a plan. Nobody is being asked to slow down, so nobody is quietly building a case about it.
Leo is the other 10, and it takes more upkeep than the number lets on. Both signs run hot, both are proud, and neither will be first to apologize. What holds it together is that Leo wants to be adored, and adoration is the one thing an Aries has never once competed for.
The air signs are the underrated answer here. Gemini takes an 8, Aquarius the same, and talking to either one costs an Aries nothing: communication hits 10 with Gemini and 9 with Aquarius. They can hold an Aries' attention for years without ever standing in the way of it. Libra scores a 7 and works better than it reads. Two Aries together make a 9 that nobody in the building gets a quiet evening out of.
Aries's Hardest Matches
The bottom of the Aries chart is bleak and it has earned every bit of that. Cancer and Capricorn are the 2s, trust at 1 in each, and it's one root cause wearing two different costumes. Both are cardinal signs, like Aries, so all three want to be the one who decides, and Aries is the only one of the three who decides out loud.
With Cancer, Aries walks in, says the blunt thing, and has forgotten it by dinner. Cancer hasn't forgotten it, won't forget it, and won't say so. Aries can't fight a mood they can't see, so the relationship becomes an accumulation of injuries Aries doesn't know it inflicted. There's no cruelty in it anywhere, just two people whose instruments can't read each other.
Capricorn is worse, because it looks workable from outside. Then Capricorn withholds approval as a management technique and Aries, who has never withheld anything in their life, reads it as contempt. Below that there are four more 4s, and they fail in two flavors. Taurus and Virgo will out-wait an Aries. Scorpio and Pisces will out-feel one. Don't talk yourself into any of them either.
What Aries Needs From a Partner
An Aries needs a partner who won't be steamrolled and doesn't take the attempt personally. Those are two separate qualities and both are rare. Someone who folds gets no respect and gets steamrolled anyway. Someone who fights back and then broods for three days will find an Aries who moved on hours ago and cannot work out why the house has gone cold.
They need a fight to be a fight and then be over. Say it, mean it, finish it, go to bed. What kills these relationships is the cold war, the long silence, the punishment served at room temperature over a fortnight. Aries has no defense against it and no patience for it, and will do something reckless to make it stop.
And they need to be kept slightly hungry. An Aries who is given everything they ask for, immediately, starts wondering what else is out there. That isn't fair and it's also true. The partners who last a decade stop treating it as a problem to solve and just plan the relationship around it.
